Uri O Nga Maara is our Rangatahi Transitional Housing which provides a safe, supportive environment for young people from 16 years old, who are navigating life’s challenges and transitioning toward independence


Uri o nga maara aims to initially get Rangatahi into an environment that is conducive to their journey of wellbeing and achieves positive outcomes, aligned with their goals and aspirations. This includes personalized training and development in essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, time management, education and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The shared living environment fosters a sense of community, encouraging collaboration, mutual support, and the building of positive relationships, so they can gain the skills necessary to thrive in their personal and professional lives.


Overview of what Tuatahi provides

  1. Stable Housing: A secure and comfortable space where rangatahi can focus on their goals, with a manager on-site 24/7.

  2. Life Skills Training: Workshops and one-on-one guidance in budgeting, cooking, job readiness, and more.

  3. Educational Support: Assistance with continuing their education or training.

  4. Employment Support: Support for job placements, resume building, and career counseling to help youth achieve financial independence.

  5. Counseling and Support: Referrals to mental health services, mentorship, and a caring community to provide further support.
